Beta Release 47

Issues fixed

1. Fixed an issue with file timestamp replication - in certain cases timestamps weren't replicated correctly and it let to a backup incorrectly copying some files that needed not be copied.

2. Fixed an issue with folder move detection in planner - the backup planning module was tripping a self-consistency check in certain, very specific situation that involved a directory move followed by recreating part of that directory in its original location.

3. Fixed an issue with handling of write failures in delta copier - delta copier wasn't properly disposing of all internal buffers when it encountered a write failure and that was tripping another self-check upon completing a file copy.

4. Fixed an issue with not seeing drive changes in Admin mode - on Vista+ with UAC enabled the app (apparently) needs to opt-in to receive Windows' notifications pertaining to device arrival and departure.

5. Fixed an issue with re-deleting backup marked for deletion - this is straight-out bug that crashed the app. When a backup job is deleted, there's a delay between issuing a delete command and the job getting removed from the UI. The delay can be as long as several seconds if the backup was running and needs to be cancelled. So it was possible to delete the same job twice and that didn't bode with the app. Fixed to show deleted jobs as "Being deleted..." and disabling all further user actions on them.

6. Fixed several issues relating to using custom config location - this is relating to running Bvckup with a custom config location. It is done by starting the app as "bvckup2.exe -c <path-to-config-folder>". The problem was that "-c " part wasn't properly preserved when switching program to/from the Admin mode and when creating the "start on logon" shortcuts and Task Scheduler entries.

Other changes

Archive folder is now created once archiving is enabled.

Updating from 47 to 47 crashes.

Error message: Failed to update your Bvckup installation.
Failed to shut down the running instance of Bvckup.

Sorry that should be from V44 to V47

Did you notice if the app was running a job at the moment? Shutting down the program requires cancelling all running jobs, which may involved Windows flushing accumulated writes to the disk, which in turn may take as long as a couple of minutes (e.g. on older USB 2 drives).

Yes. Bvckup launches with windows and starts running jobs immediately.

The notification of an update also comes up almost at the same time and once I click to update, it also starts running at the same time.

I will wait until all jobs are finished this morning and then try to update again.

Will let you know what happens.

Still can't get Version 44 to update to 47 even when no jobs are running.

It downloads okay, validates okay, shuts down Bvckup, then validates again and after about 30 seconds says;

Error message: Failed to update your Bvckup installation.
Failed to shut down the running instance of Bvckup.

Bvckup then has to be restarted manually. (V44)
